Had the same story from the dealer about the gunk heating up and running off the block. Took the bike home, looked a bit wet, thought no more of it. Next day took bike for a run to build up the milage before the first 500 miles. Got home, what turned out to be engine oil from the block, all down the side of the bike, covering the side panel, all the silencer, rear left indicator, saddle bag, side of saddle etc...
I found that the dealers PRC mechanic had not fitted the breather pipe from the center of the oil tank, directly behind the filler cap. It was still bent out of the way and tucked in behind the stainless steel radiator grill on the left of the bike. The prolonged higher revs had blown hot oil straight over the engine and the wind had done the rest.
I will always look closely if I ever have a slightly wet engine again!
