Sorry, I missed the post your referring to. A slipping 2nd gear would be a bad thing. I don't think I would ride it anymore until you get a definitive answer for fear of causing more damage.

sounds like u have the second gear problem.

I had the second gear problem on my 08. Got the update installed and fixed it.

The bike would pop out of second into neutral under hard acceleration, after the one-two shift,
not what you describe.

(If that's what is meant these days as the second gear problem.)

Also, don't use Premium fuel.
I recall reading here of bad results. The bike likes regular.

There is a big difference between a slip and a hesitation. Could the slip be the transmission slipping in and out of second gear ? You'd never smell the clutch unless it literally caught on fire, it's all sealed up and runs in oil.

Perhaps a shart?

The green neutral light isn't illuminating.

My local dealer did me a solid and sent a mechanic out on it today.

The mechanic confirmed it is the 2nd gear slip that Rockets are known for.

I'll know more tomorrow the dealership is going to reach out to Triumph and see if they will offer any goodwill for a known / past problem even though I'm out of warranty.

I only have 20890km (12980 miles) on it. I'm so gutted this has happened.

On an up note, they've said i can likely go on my road trip as only 2nd is effected as long as im gentle in 2nd and or stay in 1st a little longer then gear up to 3rd in other words skip 2nd.

What are your thoughts on this 1st to 3rd idea?

Lots of guys have made do using this method. I purchased my other Rocket with the problem. The previous owner had lived with it for 5 years. I kept the bike for several months riding it that way for tuning testing. My local dealer knew it was like that and offered a good price to buy it from me. So I sold it to them for twice what I paid for it. They put the up grade kit in it and sold it to a local guy I know. I tune it for him. He has been riding it for several years with no problems.
