2009 Rocket III Touring
Hello Rocketmen from Columbia, Missouri. I'm new to the site...looking to buy a Rocket III Touring. I currently own a 2011 Victory Hammer which is great for solo riding, but my g/f isn't comfortable on the back. I'm considering a 2009 thru 2012 R3T for budget reasons. I've ridden a 2011 R3R, but not the Touring yet...I really love the torque!

The point...I've heard about older models with tranny problems and about a frame redesign in 2010. What advice would you have when looking at used R3T's...what to look for and what to consider when selecting a model year.

Thank you in advance and I hope to be a fellow R3man soon!

Tom

Welcome from Mississippi! The transmissions were all updated in 09 on so you shouldn't have and problems (knock on wood). not sure of any frame changes unless that was a specific thing between the tourer and touring. Probably was to accommodate the narrower back tires on the new tour bikes, it did have to change a little. I haven't heard any frame related or final drive related issues in regards to that though. Some T guys will come along soon with more info I'm sure.

Welcome from Florida,I don't know of any problems with frames but the R3T frame is different than the others.The13' model yrs. Came W/ abs and pretty sure 14' mdls. have throttle by wire. Other than that pretty much the same just some different colors and accessories.crash bars and foot pegs are nice to have, jmho.

WELCOME from WA State. :D
GO FOR IT!!!
PS: WARNING - Your Victory will collect dust . . . just like my V2K does.

Welcome from another Aussie, they may be talking about just the foot peg location from 10 onwards on the roadster models as they moved them back towards the seat, on the early models the pegs were further forward. The touring models didn't do this, but it's not a frame modification it's only a foot peg rail mod, so maybe that's what they were talking about?
Cheers Pete

Hello Tomcat3b and welcome from Virginia. Are you keeping the Hammer ar trading it off? I am down to just riding the R3T these days but once in awhile having a back-up blaster seems like a fun idea. I usually quel my wonderlust by riding whatever the local demo truck has to offer and always happy to get back on the Rocket afterwards.
