Been riding bikes since I was 16 and been through all the different phases, from enduro to UJB to sport to touring to a GS via a ZX12R - I'm going to look at a 2004 Rocket 3 at the weekend and looking forward to testing it; the last 'cruiser' I rode was a XV Virago 1100 a good number of years ago.

A quick question, the bike I'm looking at doesn't have a pillion seat or a backrest, how easy is it to get these parts in the UK? My 11 year old daughter has attached herself like a limpet to the pillion of my GS and whether I can easily get a seat and backrest is kinda a go/no-go as to whether the R3 would work for me.

Really grateful for any replies/advice/guidance - I've tried e-mail/messaging a number of websites but rather oddly not one of them has replied to me yet (after a few days), am I searching for a unicorn part(s)?

I have a pillion seat from my 05 Standard that probably fits the bike you're looking at. Sadly the cost of sending it across the pond is not cheap. Can't help with the backrest, I assume you are asking for the passenger backrest.

Yes, it's the passenger backrest I'm looking for to stop me losing my daughter off the back without me noticing
Would you have any idea of the cost of shipping (do you think it would be prohibitively expensive?), and what you would be looking for in terms of the seat itself?

You definitely need a passenger backrest to keep her on the bike the instant torque is surprising.

That's what I'm anticipating and why the availability of a pillion seat and backrest are decision breakers when it comes to the bike.

take a look on ebay there are five rear seats in the uk ranging from 40 to 80 quid. and a backrest and rack for £250, type in ( Triumph Rocket Roadster 111 Chrome rear rack And Back Rest ) and it should pop up.

That's so helpful, thanks - I've spent hours searching for backrests on e-bay and that's never come up before, I can only presume it's because I'm stupid and didn't enter the search in the way you did, or it's relatively new - either way thanks; in fact there seems to be a couple on there?

I still can't see many pillion seats using the search "Triumph Rocket Roadster 111 Pillion Seat" but I've messaged the couple that I have found to see if (a) they will fit the 2004 model and (b) they'll post them (the sale says collect in person) and keen as I am I don't think I could justify to my wife a return ferry ticket to England for me and my bike/car to pick them up.

i put in triumph rocket 3 rear seat, ive just tried it again and we are down four, enjoy tour test ride, im sure getting a rear seat wont be a problem. a backrest is essential for pillions if you dont want to lose them my mate used to hate going on the back untill i put a backrest on it.
