05 Rocket III standard
Hello fellow Rocketeers.
Been a lurker for a few years, finally decided to join today.
My rocket is an 05 standard that I picked up a few years ago. Recently swapped 14 roadster drive train in do to stripped out dogs on 5th gear causing me to lose 4th.

SWEET RIDE... nice to have you. Welcome from Colorado. Did you have Robertson build you a new and upgraded trans? for the grand and splitting the case... do it.

Thanks.
I haven’t had Robinson do anything to the roadster engine as it only has 10,000 miles in it from a 2014 roadster. However, will be using Robertson to source my parts for the gray motor that I took out on the bike. Likely won’t crack that one open until after the holidays.

****! You're a lot braver than me. I also have an 05 Rocket III. Has taken me 3 days and still counting to get the oil take off to change out the O Rings. Seems like **** near everything connected to the engine on the left side had to come off to get those long bolts off the oil tank! I can't imagine what you went through

At the end of the day, it’s really not that bad for someone who is slightly mechanically inclined. Sometimes you just have to get out of your own head and just do it. While taking the oil tank off does require the removal of the throttle bodies, it does not mean you need to disconnect everything. If you look closely at the photos above, you can see that I have the cables and sensors all still connected just suspended by the wire ties attached to the frame .the most difficult part of getting the oil tank off is the old stubborn O-rings. what works for me was a thick rag under the tank and using a carpenters flat bar to pry up from one side to the other until it was released. Remember to grease the new O-rings prior to install If I remember correctly, the manual says to use Vaseline? Or petroleum jelly? Good luck, and don’t rush it. The last thing you want is the thing to leak after you’ve reassembled it . Oh, and one note of caution. on the grey motor that I removed it wasn’t the O-ring seals that was leaking but welded area around the bottom of the tank where the bolts passed through I know, another thing to have anxiety about.
