heated clothing

The Gerbing heated clothing comes with the hookups needed to run right off the battery if you don't have a power socket.

Ditto my set-up ... runs straight off the battery .. but if you loook at the Widder web site various connectors are possible.

Once I finally figured it out, after having it explained to me here, I find it's so much easier to hook up my Optimate.

I wear their heated gloves and full jacket liner over an Under Armor Cold Gear top (and under-armor bottoms/leggings under my leather pants w/heated socks!)...in addition to the heated grips...and regularly ride in the low 20's and teens here in NY. All that gets sealed under my Vanson jacket and I swear to you it's so warm.

With this combo, you're literally toasty warm even in extreme temps.

Here's a URL for the Under Armor stuff:

I've got the entire Gerbing set up - for over two years. Doesn't often get that cold in N Texas, but when it does..... you can use any combination of items. The product is quality. The warmth is amazing.

Heated underwear or heated jacket and trousers?

I'm going to take the plunge and would be interested in opinions.

You wrestle with a snowmobile (and thus produce more body heat) going through jumps and hard turns that require more extreme body leaning than riding a bike...especially in the winter when the streets may be slick...my experience anyway 8)

I agree 100%. I'm an avid snowmobiler and for some reason, you just don't get too cold on that thing....even with just heated grips (and faceshileld). It has to be the physical exertion while you're on it that's helping to keep ya warm.

Jacket liner and the gloves is more than adequate to start.
Take the liner out of you winter jacket and use the heated one instead.
The gloves are connected to the jacket liner.
No need to buy regulators/thermostats.

Kind regards

Do most people get the dual controllers when they run multiple heated items?

According to my dealer 75% don't buy controllers, only with a full setup it seems usefully

My Aerostich heated Jacket liner just has an on/off switch, If I find it's getting too warm I can switch it off.

Its warm enough that I've actually just slipped it on without a jacket before and stayed warm.

a suggestion with vests or liners is to make sure its up close to your body ( I hate to say tight, but snug?) that way you can reap the benifits from the electric coils.

Mine is an XL and its actually a little loose but still keeps me at least 10-15 degrees warmer and thats nice on my cold ride in the morning.

I rode a couple hundred miles in 30 degree weather and didn't even notice I had left the vents open on my Darien till a riding buddy pointed it out. I think a perfect setup would be a snug electric vest under a (non electric) fleece liner under the jacket, that way you can shed stuff along the way, and with just the vest, turned off, still have core temps ok and can easily switch it on as the sun goes down without stopping to put the liner back in till you have to

Here in the south its often cold in the AM but nice and sunny by afternoon, sometimes I'll wear the electric liner under my perforated leather jacket, warm in the am and cool for the afternoon ride home
