The wife was kind enough to co-sign my 1st Rocket, then things changed(oouucchhhh) and I had to buy the 2nd one on my own. Treat her well and she will reward you(the bike I mean). You are on your own with the wify. Welcome Bigfoot390
Well I took brought "Chloe" home today, never even took a test ride. As you all should know (and I have ridden all kinds of bikes before) this is by FAR the smothest riding sled I have ever been on. First impression was that cripes what is all the fuss about it handles like my old 750 bonny. Much more massive feeling but very suprized on how she corners and handles. She takes a bit getting used to because of the weight but I can not remember when I really enjoys riding like this before. If there is a better handling and riding bike somebody please tell me what it is and let me take it for a ride to compare. I looked very hard at BMW, rode some Harleys and ......well I quess I am in love .
A couple of issues today was one a oil seep from somewhere under that oil tank on the left side not sure if has stopped yet as I only put 75 miles on it today.I will check on that tomorrow and can get the dealer to fix it at my first oil change and the other was a sloppy feeling between first and second gear that if its not something that will work it self out in the breakin then I can get used to it and drive accordingly. Anyone else have that problem?
And I have a new GREAT granddaughter today "Chloe Elizabeth" 6 lbs 11 oz
Oh yea a harley guy was soooo excited about it he forgot to charge me for my inspection, I forgot too . I will pay him tomorrow. I made him wash his hands before he put the sticker on, Is that bad manners?
You might try to wipe the stuff off the motor and see if it returns ... I had what looked like a leak when mine was new. Cleaned it off and it never came back ... don't know what it was.
That transmission might take some getting used too ... it's a strange animal. In some ways they are pretty smooth and in others they feel like a Muncie "Rock-Crusher". The gears in there are huge to handle the torque, I'm actually amazed it's not alot louder than it is because of their size.
Hope that's all it is ... hate to see you have to give up the new toy while repairs are made.
Sometimes what looks like a minor oil leak on a new bike is just the cosmoline melting off.
As for the 1st/2nd gear fun, once the semi-synthetic is drained at that first service and they put in the full synthetic the shifting should get smoother.
Well I told her...AND she was good with it! Its going to be a longggg week before I get back home. Starting to wonder what she is wanting for Christmas...
If the wife don't like it (the rocket)bigfoot, what's your fall back plan?????????
New wife or new house....
(LOL)
Just asking...................
Mind was impressed, as had a old softail bfore the beast, but did make the mistake of getting a higher(and wider) pillion pad, now she can see the speedo.........Bugger
In 2005 I had a red VTX1300 anyhoo the wife and kids went back to Los Angeles to visit her parents and while they were away I bought my Rocket(red of course)
Kept my mouth shut, the family arrived home wife and son walked right passed the rocket without even batting an eyelid, up the driveway comes my daughter shouting daddys got a new bike. Yes I was in the dog house for a few weeks
Hi I a from Scotland, I too had a VTX1300 and I am changing it tomorrow for a 2009 Classic Rocket. How did you find the change and how would you compare the two.
I can tell you the philosophy at my house and it has been working for now on almost 30 yrs. If I want something and can afford it, I just go and get it because I live by these famous words.
"ITS EASIER TO GET FORGIVENESS, THAN IT IS TO GET PERMISSION"
