My biggest ***** about my 08 R3T is puttin in the fuel. Am I the only one who has to sit there with the nozzel flange held back with my left hand and then put the last half gallon in on "super slow".

I bought one of those yellow Unleaded Filler Flange things but once the nozzel shuts off, the tank will still take almost 7/10's of a gallon and i can feel myself gettin old waiting.

Anyone found a fix or am I the only one blessed with this little nightmare?

SOP.

Standard Operating Procedure.

It's because of the tanks design.

I have a similar process to fill mine. The last gallon or so is a tricky bit of work.

Yep, it's a right pain in the rear. Doesn't seem to have a great solution, you just get faster at filling that last 5% with practice.

I believe AeroStitch has a nifty tool shaped like a two-prong long fork that solves the problem quite well.

nop no problem filling mine up at all !!

Do you also own a Touring model? I'm guessing the different shape of the tank is the cause of the problem, and yes, its a ***** to get it full.

I seem to remember somebody on a BMW forum with a similar problem and they drilled a couple of holes in the sides of the filler tube to let air escape. It would be a big pain in the ass to try, what with draining the tank, figuring out how to keep any filings from falling inside etc.

I have a McCuff but it still will take almost a gallon after it cuts off and the cuff is no use on pumps with out the bellows.

Like GPM said the solution sems to be to drill a larger vent hole in the filler neck.

Same problem here. I just stopped trying to get that last bit in. Once it stops I pump it a little more than done. I dont have time to sit there and jerk around with the hose so..........
