Has anyone had new cables made to go with Risers?

I am going to install a set of Rivco risers and I am not overwhelmed at re-routing the cables. Has anyone had new cables fabbed up with extra length so they will run the same route? If you have, who made them and how long are they if you can recall.

TIA

I bought a set from Barnett Clutches. Great quality cables, I went with the stainless steel look. The throttle cables really require no extra length or even rerouting for the Rivcos, and in fact my added inch was a mistake. I had to route them through the left hole by the triple tree for them not to be hitting the windshield. But they work well in this configuration also. You could, at most, add a quarter inch if you really want to get them perfect.

The clutch cable needs something like an inch or inch and a half. Again, it's important to not get too much or else you wind up with it too going way too high before it curves back to the handle. Their clutch cable has a synthetic low-friction lining that makes the action smooth as silk, good stuff.

I'd recommend you take your current ones, measure them, and add 0.25 inches to the throttle cables and 1.5 perhaps on the clutch.

Do not tell them (as they suggest) "stock + 2 inches". Their idea of stock is probably cables for the R3 normal or something, because mine were wildly off the first batch I got. Of course, they did a new batch for free to fix it, but even so, give them very specific measurements of how long you want them, seems safest.

Quality of the cables is excellent. Would recommend.

Hello Bob,

I also bought the longer cable to get a descent routing.
Barnett will know the sice because it needs to be a kittle longer.
I have it one for 5 years know , never had a problem.

Good luck,

Hans

Spiegler will make braided stainless brake lines any sizes you want, pretty reasonable, if I recall.

Yep, I ran out of upgrade budget this year, but next winter the bike's getting 6-pot calipers and all braided lines front and back.

No length change is necessary for the brake lines either with the 2 inch RIVCO's.

I have the Rivco Risers. Re-routed the brakes, clutch and throttle cables. No problems in 9 years.

Yeah, I routed my clutch cable next to the triple tree instead of the factory route and that worked fine, but every time I did a hard turn left (locked the bars) it nibbled away at the sheathing. So I got a slightly longer one and routed it properly. It would probably have kept working fine, nibbling aside.

Yep, that would do it. But assuming just the risers, the only thing that gets too short is the clutch cable.

This is a hard question for me to ask, BUT, I'm installing risers right now and I'm down to rerouting the Brake line for the front brake master cylinder.
The banjo bolt, is it Right hand threads, or Left hand threads. Mine is very tight and won't budge. I don't want to be trying to turn it left if it needs to be turned right. I figure ill be replacing it and the crush washer anyhow, I don't want to break it though.
