Harley's 2,212cc Upgrade...

Rocket 3: circlip, ate transmission, well known problem
2002 Sprint: broke crank, known problem peculiar to that year.
Tt600: hard start, took 3 tries with starter, known problem with that year. ( 2001?, been a while)

Please elaborate on R3 circlip issue. I'm new to R3 & wouldn't want to munch a gearbox through ignorance.

Circlip pops out of it's groove allowing more than one gear set to engage at the same time. Instant carnage. Happened a number of times on the Roadster models of the 2300 series. Grooves didn't appear to be cut deep enough on the tranny shafts to hold the circlip in place.

You have the new model with a totally different gearbox. Not to worry.........
 
Modern Harleys are a pretty good product, they just aren't canyon carvers. But neither are Rockets, at least first generation, I haven't ridden a new one.
You need to ride a new one, it's crazy. 640 lb bike and it handles like a dream. I miss my HD Switchback for it's touring comfort and feel, but this R3 as one of of bro's in here says "PERMA-GRIN"
