I made these and did a post how to. They work great for helping to keep my hands warmer on my touring. They clamp to the windshield and block the cold air from getting to your hands. They make a big difference.

I was asked to post a link to the plans. If you look down through this post I made you will see some detailed plans.

What do you think?....Hand wind deflectors

I use these translucent hand guards on my Roadster: Wind Busters Motorcycle Hand Guards. | Facebook
They look good (IMO) and are good bug and rock deflectors, but aren't very big.
I've just ordered these for the colder months: Pacific Coast
I'll fit them over the top of the WindBusters, which will prevent the wind from pressuring the Hippo Hands against the handlebar levers. I'm excited to see if they fit, and see how warm my hands are.
I also have these grips on the Roadster year round: Heaterz Premium Cruiser - Heated Grips
The grips are fat, but I have big hands and find them very comfortable. The multiple heat level adjustment is great.

I just ordered these and will give them a go! I am hoping fitment is as good as I am reading about and know they will be very useful
I think you'll like them. They work for me. With the Gerbing gloves you'll be good well into the thirties, maybe colder, but that's my limit!

I have the EXO plug in gloves that I really love. I have had them for several years now but even with heat, blocking the wind will still make them even better. I will ride into the teens so long as everything is dry on the road. At those temperatures it is very easily to hit a slick spot if it is wet and come into a dark spot on the road.

Tell you, the Hippo Hands work so well I don't even turn on the gloves above 25 or 30.

OK, the Hippo Hands have arrived and have been tested. I chose the reflective versions. I'm very impressed with the stiffness and apparent robustness of the material. Installation doesn't require mirror removal, a slit is provided which is sealed with pop studs and "hook and loop". When installed the Hippo Hands don't move around at all (up to 65mph so far). The wind protection is excellent. I wore perforated unlined gloves on a 100 mile ride on a 65-70 degree day and my hands were almost too warm!

The Hippo Hands Pacific Coast model (used in combination with Wind Busters wind deflectors which maintain full clearance for the fingers) points the hand openings slightly away from the bike, so my sleeves rest on the inside/lower edge when riding. They would be perfect for a more back-swept handlebar. Not a major problem, and if I feel like trimming the inside part of the openings, this would reduce/eliminate the contact. It would also enlarge the openings. I will delay this decision until I find out how easy - or not - it is to find the openings while in motion, in the dark, wearing thick heated gloves.
