Have you relocated your ignition switch?

Steel,
Love the avatar; however, once again the avatar spits forth explitives that would not pass the censor if written here. Curious as to how that be???

R3Tex,
Real nice sano instal of the Zumo. Is it powered to the power take off under left side of seat or direct wired?
Think I shall go shoppin some . . .

No...my fly screen is pushed out 2" (~ 50mm) so I have plenty of room to get to the key. As soon as I find time I'm going to put a wireless remote on with a proximity switch

I installed two aux fuse boxes under the tank. One is always hot and the other is only hot when the key is on. The Zumo is wired to the accessory hot one. It comes on when the key is turned on and goes off same way...didn't want a dead battery in the middle of nowhere

Great system. Wish I knew how to do that. I plug into accessory plug below the seat on the left and must remember to unplug whenever I stop.
Not too bad because I take it into motel every night when traveling. I need to figure a way to reconnect the accessory plug to switched power.
Thanks for the dope,

it is actually very easy Steve, find a positive wire that is active only when ign on (I used the taillight wire) to act as a switching wire on a 40 amp relay (you will only be drawing a very light load) you feed the relay from the battery with a heavy gauge fused wire to the positive "In" side of relay and connect an insulated buzz bar to the "Output" of relay you now have a multiple outlet buzz bar from which you can run fused sources to various accessories including your "accessory plug"

There are a mass of accessory plugs under the tank too that you may not be using. Heated grips, fog lights, clock, Fuel gauge. They all have a switched feed in the connector block. Only reason I have that left side socket - is to plug the trickle charger in. If the item you're using (Zumo etc) takes a USB feed - Get a decent FUSED hard wired USB output There are water proofed bar mounted versions out there. EXAMPLE http://www.ridermount.com/home/categories/cables/usb-sockets/ or http://www.mobilecentre.co.uk/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=146_200&products_id=653
OK - neither of those have the bar bracket - but ebay I'm sure has them.

I have a 12 way fuse block fed by a 70A relay (I like overkill) in the filter box together with other gizmos. Ran a wire to the heated grips plug to fire the relay. Absolutely ALL extras are fed from this. Personally I don't like leaving anything HOT. I cant actually think of anything I'd want to either.
