Had to let the Rocket go, my license is grateful!

Did it cut out before the software update? What year is it?
2024, had the engine check light on and it cut out twice prior to the software update. It has run fine since and is a really fun bike. I was a moderator on a 400 forum. I got so sick of owners complaining about easily resolved issues I left the forum. I must have stated dozens of times, buying a first year bike you can expect a few issues.

I just sold my BMW R1250R and am looking to downsize, age (76) appropriate. I just test drove a 2025 400x. It was comfortable (which my arthritis appreciates) and adequate to meet my riding needs, which is mainly dinking around town. My other possibility is a KTM 790 Duke, aka the “Scalpel”. I’m asking myself if I really need a Scalpel, another fast bike. I know it’s not going to be as comfortable as the 400x. What would you do?

I'm 2 years behind you at 74 ; I'd go comfort.

Get the 400, it looks like a motorcycle, not a transformer toy...LOL After break in miles and first service I am impressed how quick it is for a 400. I went with the Speed 400 not the X. I am tall so the X would fit me a bit better but I would be tempted to venture off road and push it too hard. I need not go down at age 68.

Also, my first bike 55 years ago was a green Triumph Tiger (TR6R). The 400x comes in green, maybe not exactly the same, but close.

Akin to a body builder who quits because he beats up too many people. In all seriousness, to each their own. Stay safe and enjoy. The Scout looks cool.

Dealer would not offer me a fair trade in. I am keeping the R3GT.
Yep, dealers are trying to rape us on these bikes. I've never had one depreciate so fast. Was looking at a K1600 and they were offering about 12K trade. Half of new.
