Exactly! If slowed by traffic to less than 25 mph my inside right calf bakes regardless where I put it. I have minor scars from the burns.
Went out today for a 100 mile, moderate leg roast, fortunately my final fitting is tomorrow - can't wait.

I bought a small soccer shin guard set from Walmart and filled the vent holes in the guard with silicone. Wear it under my jeans leg to keep the heat off my calf from the Carpenter sidewinder exhaust. Works really well for heat reduction, invisable when worn, you can walk around wearing it, and costs less than $10 for two guards.

So here's my report on the Jet Hot coating on the Carpenter pipe:
Overall heat management is very good. While riding at normal speeds there is barely any heat noticeable. While stopped in traffic my leg is far enough away from the last header pipe that the heat isn't a problem. If traffic is creeping along and my foot is on the peg the heat from the last pipe rises quickly since there is not enough air flow.
As for the heat shield I ordered from Funk: what they sent is nothing at all like what is pictured on the website and it will not fit between the first header pipe and the brake master cylinder. To make matters worse they have gone silent and will not answer my emails.
So moving forward I will wrap a 3" area on the first header pipe to protect the master cylinder and since I go to a lot of rallies where the traffic tends to crawl along I will likely wrap the last header pipe from the top downward curve to within 2" of the connection to the collector.

I heard back from Funk and what they sent is indeed the part I ordered even tough it is much bigger than 2" x 3" (4" x 8" actually) and it is far too thick to fit between the pipe and master so it looks like the only resolution I have will be to wrap that area.
