Has anyone seen something like the Capt Itch guards for the Rocket 2? The heat in Texas is pretty brutal before the motor starts to cook you. I have ordered a slip-on exhaust, which should help with the cat heat. I also ordered carbon fiber exhaust manifold covers and read all the pages in the related thread. I am getting a lot of heat right off the rear corner of the motor. Something like the Capt Itch leather guard would definitely help.

Funny you posted this today, I was looking for some type of half chap/ leg shield for the **** Carpenter pipes on my Rocket, didn't have much luck, the couple I found had bad reviews. I think I'm going to wrap the header

I thought about header wrapping but that would only cure part of my problem. It seems there is chimney for the back right corner of the valve cover that just ducts it right into my ****** along with some hot breeze off the header. Not as bad when riding but at a stop I can feel it all being piped up.

I have the Captain Itch leather shields on my Indian but have not seen anything for the Rockets.

I'll keep searching. I may end up going the route of wrapping the header to help with. I just realized there is a different exhaust cover for the GT exhaust than the R so I am trying to see if it might be worth changing since they haven't shipped those yet.

I may just go old school and cut up a piece of leather and make one myself.

Make 2. 😉

It hasn't even started to get hot in Texas yet. First 100f heat index is today. Just wait until summer gets here.... 🔥

Yeah, it was hot yesterday. That is where an electric motorcycle has some huge advantages. Nothing roasting the chestnuts when you ride. I went for a ride it was already getting hot. Ambient temps were 87F but said it felt like it was 95F already. Don't want to get caught in a traffic jam and stop on the highway, that is for sure.

I bought the Carpenter pipe as well but sent it to Jet Hot in Oklahoma for their Classic Polish ceramic coating. They claim a 58% reduction in heat - I don't get the pipe back until the end of the month but will post what I get for real here.

It makes me wonder if removing the cat box wouldn't tone down the heat. The other option is using some Nomex cloth. Basically it's a heat shield used by the fire service and petrochemical plants. It's available by the yard in various colors from a lot of different suppliers (I'm not making money on it, just have exerience with it).

"Nomex® is an inherently heat and flame-resistant fiber that won't melt, drip or support combustion providing a superior barrier between for what's inside from the hazards around it."
