Greetings! (Wall of Text Warning)

1. Yep that's the price. With dealer and crate fees and all the other bull$hit they tacked on I rode out of the dealer at about $17,500

2. I'm over 25 and married, but only had my M license for about a year. I use State Farm and pay about $65/month. A friend just got a completely insane quote for insuring her first bike, and she ended up getting reasonable insurance through a company recommended by the dealer. I'll get the info and send it to you.

3. The stock seat is "fine" but I have been much more comfortable on my Corbin Fastgun. The seat is just a bit lower and further back, which also made my shoulders and neck more comfortable and put the pegs slightly further ahead of me.

4. The stock exhaust is a whisper. If you don't mind it don't change it, but the TORs have a nice round note that I found much more appealing. I had them for a year before buying a Reband pipe which is a d@mn fine performance upgrade and sounds fantastic. Eventually I plan to put on a Carpenter Brute (partly because I had engine work by Carpenter and his 2" header pipes will get me another 18+ hp)

Here we go again. :(

1. Price. Just pay whatever you think it's worth. You just need to tell them what they're going to accept. That's how it works, isn't it? I have heard that some people shop around and compare prices but I'm not convinced anyone actually does. Sounds too far fetched.

2. Insurance. Tell them that if they expect to get your business they'll have to charge you the same as an older, more experienced rider. No point trying anywhere else because every insurance company offers exactly the same product and prices.

3. Comfort. You'll have to live with it the way it is. I don't think anyone's ever even considered changing the seat or peg position on a Rocket. You're the first! Well done. I would imagine the way you'd go about it would be to maybe try one out and, I don't know, see how you like it. Now this is real greenfields stuff but maybe if it wasn't quite the way you wanted things you could then look around at options for changing it a little to better suit YOU.

4. Sound. The Rocket is the only bike ever made that cannot be made louder. There are no exhaust modifications possible. Sorry, but that's the way it is.

No Kidding...... :)

Anthony, I'm over twice your age and am paying $100 a month with full coverage including replacement value for the bike. (Richochet, did you check TD Insurance? Cheapest for me by a lot)

Comfort. You're gonna have to try it out and set it up for your height, weight and shape of your toosh. I have over 4500 kms on mine this summer and I'm satisfied with the seat. I did get pegs installed on my highway bars to stretch out my legs. Riding the Roadster with my legs underneath hasn't been a problem for comfort. On a hot day, the highway pegs keep your feet out of the airflow from the rad which helps keep things cool.

Oh, and welcome to the insane asylum......;)

Welcome to the "process" of getting the Rocket. Insurance is variable depending on the insurance company, age and "classification" of the motorcycle.

As for using the "search" feature I have found it to be pretty much of a joke although there are some on the board that religiously throw that out as a means of finding "specific" info. If you type in your subject into "search" you will usually come out with a multitude of entries that mention the item you want to know about but often any post ever entered on the site that contains that word or words is shown.

There are a bunch of us that don't mind answering your questions, I did the same when I joined way back in 2006. There is a lot of knowledge on this board concerning all things Rocket (Standard, Tourer, Classic, Roadster and the Touring) so ask away.

As far as getting one in the 11.5 to 13 range of price including dealer fees, shipping, prep and taxes...good luck but you may still get some off of the list price...just maybe not that much.

And when you finally get it...enjoy it!

While I know this is a necrobump for this thread, I didn't want to reopen a new one.

After lurking around these forums since my initial post last summer, I test rode the R3R in October 2014 and I knew I needed to start saving. I went to the dealer yesterday and after another test ride, and 5 hours later....

I look forward to participating more on the board, I'm sure I will continue to lurk! :ninja:
