Just wondered how many people have used graphite Oil on their throttle cable and clutch cable. I used to mix graphite and 3M machine Oil together to do my cables I wondered if there is anything better or should I just stick with what works

Well that's a new one on me did not know the Oil would melt the plastic the Harley shop up here by me the oil & graphite mix is standard procedure that has got my curiosity up if there is a difference in cables that's why I like this site you're always learning something

Not all plastics are the same some will melt some don't. The other thing is that the oil will attract gunk and eventually bind up. This is why they don't use oil in locks they only use graphite powder. The older style cables had steel liners and oil is ok for use in them.

Therein lies the problem my friend...
harley mentality is "different" shall we say.
They think whatever worked in 1930 is good enough.;)

My dad told me to never use graphite and oil together. One or the other. Together they can cause problems gunking up.
