GPS Garmin Zumo 550 Fraud

Ok, I saved up for the Zumo 550, ordered it, and was totally pumped to get it, but going for the cheapest price I ran into a bait and switch company everyone should avoid: LORIMER ELECTRONICS. They had the lowest price 594.86 and I checked everything out with them, yep, they got everything in there, don't take anything out, don't put anything in, etc. They were supposed to send me a confirmation email a week ago when it was in the mail....a week later nothing...I called, they're checking into it, will call me back today....no call....I call them furious, now the bait and swith, well, we get the product from outside the country so there's no American warranty and no Garmin support, if you want that it's 640 or something...just lost all trust in them...cancelled the order.

ANYBODY RECOMMEND A REPUTABLE COMPANY TO BUY THE GARMIN ZUMO 550 FROM (that's still a cheap price)? I already got the XM Receiver for less than 200. Fish

Good one Skip! You're right, I took a chance. Saw some bad reviews, but so cheap I went for it anyway, and was hoping it would be simple b/c they said they had it right there in stock. However, it was the best price I could find anywhere....not sure what you mean by 10 times the price? It retails for 900 something, I was going to get it for under 600...can't beat that...well, if you can, let me know where....You were the one telling me to get impulsive, no?

Fish I ran into the same thing when I purchased my 550 lots of bait and switch deals. the cheapest I have seen a new one go with no strings attached is around 630 to 650. I ended up getting mine on ebay from a buy it now dealer ebay and paypal will back the purchase.

Yeah, tried to clear that all up front, but doesn't matter when you're dealing with weasles. The only thing they came thru on was the email confirming my cancellation! So, in the end, 1) does it matter if it comes from abroad, not sure why it would have to, and 2) did you get a warranty w/ yours and continued technical support, or something like that, w/ Garmin? I'll look for Amazon...

And what did you pay? Is the warranty 1 year? I want tech supp in case I have some trouble too. Yeah, first thing I check is new or refurbished...learned that the hard way on solar lights!
