No, I was looking to wheelie. I figured if that big motor wouldn't make it wheelie, then I was keeping my M109 because I knew she'd wheelie really well. Pulling away from the door I gave her a handfull of throttle to get the front end up a little just to get a feel for the power. When I turned around and got straight, I dug in deep and stood her up about like the picture on my avatar. The manager, and a couple of the salesmen where outside watching me. The manager was shocked, and said you're a crazy MF'r. We were watching because most people come back shook up because of the torque.

Only wheelie I've done on a street bike was unintentional on Yamaha virago 250cc 2009 model.

Hand somehow slipped of the handle bar & clutch at a stop light bike lunged forward causing me to twist throttle fully open.

So only had one hand and one foot on the bike both on the left side.

Crossed up the handle bars but managed to get the bars straight just before the wheel touched the ground.

Bought my First Rocket on a rainy day...2014 Roadster...took her for a cautious ride for maybe half an hour being careful not to twist that throttle too much with all that water everywhere...went back, dropped the folding down..waited and he shook my hand.
My cobber who had taken me down to check the bike, jumped in his vehicle and headed off to my place and I followed, we had a 100km ride in the rain to get home. Hell of a way to settle down on her as I had just put my Triumph Storm in the dealers for them to sell for me...the R3 was quite a bit different with my feet under me rather than forward. By the time I got her home I was buzzing!!...loved it!
Cant see me changing from a Rocket anytime soon.

We used to do wheelie's on our 650 Triumphs and it didn't take much.

The first time I raised the wheel on my Rocket I was on a freeway on ramp with my friend and his lunatic girlfriend on his Harley Road Glide, dawdling along in front of me. I was losing patience and while still in first I grabbed some throttle puled around them on the left. I hit second gear while abreast of them, opening the throttle all the way while dropping the clutch. I was not trying to get air but I sure did. It couldn't have been too high and was not too long but did it ever feel good, bringing a grin to my face.

When we arrived at our destination in Tacoma my buddy pulled up beside me and said "You and that Rocket are crazy!" Perhaps just a bit.

Well this thread came back alive so I might as well update it.

Had a great summer put 4800 miles on the Rocket and put 2300 on the America.

Took the bike to Falcone Motorsports in Indianapolis for the 500 mile service. Transmission shifted much better after that.

Found the Rocket only needed a couple mods. Seat rebuilt and the xcreen on the windshield was about it.

The more I learned about the Rocket's engine and how Triumph throttled it back really ticked me off. I had no intention of doing any modifications, but knowing the power has been chained up in that engine just kept haunting me.

When I put Hanso's tune in the ECU and the Tors I got a taste. Then I saw Paul's cut away view of the cross over box I thought what a hack job.

So I knew I could deal with the ECU thanks to Hanso and Paul's crossover and the TORS will clean up the exhaust.

All that left was the intake. I thought the 3 into 2 was a bad design, but man that air intake system is terrible.

I have decided to use the RAMair system.

I do not want more that what the Rocket is. I just want the Rocket to be as it should be.

I will have all of this done by spring. I am going to get with Paul after Christmas and then he needs to get busy.

Still hate the tires. Being pulled to the Dark Side.

Holy #hit. Let me tell you a little story. Had a few beers but grin and bear it. Traded in a very fast and built 05 American for a Fatboy Harley back in 2010. Rode off the parking lot on the New fatboy and half way home got to thinking that we may have #ucked up. Well rode the ^ell out of the Fatboy and spent a lot of money on her. Got her up to where it was fun to ride but it took a bit and a %ell of alot money. Did the work myself but got her up to about 120 ponies on the rear. Five years later saw a ad for the Rocket X. Saw the Official ad for the X and busted into tears. Wife Just said this ain't good. Had about 85,000 miles on the Fatboy and knew I was looking. Well six weeks later and a new Kitchen for her (did that myself too) My wife and the grandkid was off to Dallas. Got on down there and had already bought the bike no test ride. They had it ready to go for me. Sat on her and started the motor. Spent the next four hours riding her around the shop getting use to it. Scared the Living #rap out of me, Bought them all hamburgers and fries for lunch while I built up enough confidence to take my new pride and joy on the road. Never looked back. Still own the Harley but now it is my backup bike. Have the Rocket down for maintenance and upgrades. Even so in the short time I have rode her have racked up 25,000 miles and then some. (bought New in Nov of 2015) Most folks on this site are really good people who share the same passion. I for one do not care about one upping the next guy but love to read about a guy who shares the same passion I have for the ROCKET. Welcome aboard .

Why does everybody sound like they were intimidated by the R3 the first time they rode it?
I can't be the only person who did a wheelie in the parking lot while leaving for the test drive.

No wheelie, but I did wish to make sure the dealer sales peeps gathered around for my very first take-off on my zero miles R3R were duly impressed.
I unexpectedly spun the tire and slid the rear around some, and then waved casually whilst pretending that I had not puckered my sphincter!
