GI Pro Gear Indicator

Phil,
you know how it is,
up to 5th, down to 3rd,
back up to 4th, down to 2nd,
all the way to 5th,
back down to 3rd.
Heck, it wore me out just typing all that.
Much less trying to keep up with it in real time.

you left out ...
5th to 6th,
wondering if i'm in 5th, pulling the clutch, tap the shifter up to make sure,
starting over at slow speed by fishing for neutral and counting up again.
I know there's only 5 but for some reason with the odd gearing on a rocket I was always unsure where I was. It's something I was always trying to hide so no one could tell I was checking if I was in 5th. I never had a problem with my other bikes, it's just the R3 and the little differences in gear ratio had me always unsure.

After re-visiting the site it appears that the GI PRO with ATRE is the one that we are interested in and says that it will run on Rocket III's 2004 - 2009.

If it does all it says it does, it seems like a reasonable alternative to Tuneboy as far as faster speed in the lower gears and removing the speed limiter (can be turned off or on as needed) which is all I ever wanted...back when I was asking questions on the Rocket before I even bought mine back in 2007 while in Afghanistan the first time.

I imagine it will come at a price as my fuel mileage may suffer but only if I want to run it thru the gears in fast acceleration mode.

Now the question what kind of benefits would this do for the R3T?

Oh and the big question....how much does it cost (hopefully not one of those "if you have to ask how much, you can't afford it")?

You definitely want the ATRE model, thats the one that eliminates the power reduction in 1-3 gears. I paid $160 for it, it could probably have been found for less if I shopped around but I was in a hurry and wanted it right away. Don't let anyone whack you too hard for shipping charges, the box is only about the size of bank checks. I bought it at www.xtsportbikeaccessories.com but I see that they are selling them on ebay for $150.
It IS a plug and play device with one exception, the plug that goes inline with the GPS (gear position switch) coupler on the bike requires the pins be removed from the plug and reinstalled in another. That part is a little tedious but anyone with some wrenching skill won't have a problem.
The Pro along with the removal of the secondaries will most certainly get your attention and respect, I imagine an R3T will benefit from it the same way as an R3.

Thanks, at $160 that's not bad in my book especially for what I want it to do. I do wish that the plug would have been exact but I guess as long as it has instructions on how and what pins to remove or whatever I should be able to accomplish it.

Thanks, I may look into that when I get home and buzz up my Rocket a little more before I sell, trade or keep it.

Think I'm gonna order one.
I'll still want the tune boy but for a completely different reason.
I pulled my exhaust off again yesterday, to reinstall the stock one with the bypass.
I noticed my front cylinder is still running way rich.
The middle and back ones are alright.
Will I be able to adjust the A/F mixture to each cylinder with a tuneboy?
Anybody know?
Anybody ever try?
Anybody ever had this problem?
Don't want to waste the money on a tuneboy,
if it doesn't do the one thing I want it too.
Thanks guys.

If it will help anyone, I can fax a copy of the user manual and installation instructions.
The two are only 4 pages total.
PM me with a fax number and I'll send them out.

FYI, I see that they have a couple new models now. I read up on them and they are for other applications so don't get confused. The GiPro w/ATRE (Advanced Timing Retard Eliminator) is the one for us.
