Gear Problem

The dealer on opening the clutch cover confirms it is the detent spring that is broken. They do not carry this on stock, so has to be ordered from the UK, which he reckons will take 2-3 weeks!! Is there anywhere else I can get it faster?

Tks

2-3 weeks is the standard line ... experience indicates 5-6 weeks .. xmas and nye in the middle of it won't assist any. Never known anyone to find a replacement for the Triumph stock de-ten spring .. that's not to say there isn't something out there. If you track one down let us know ok.

I didn't notice any noises either.. bike just jumped out of 1st and 2nd gears , usually half way across a busy intersection or when i was between the cars at traffic lights, a couple of seconds after they had turned green

Would item 21 in the above link the right replacement?

The link doesn't work, however it did take 2-3 weeks for my spring to come in.

It's my experience that anything from Triumph takes at least 2-3 weeks. My bike was down for most of 2011 waiting on parts here and there.. It is part of owning a Triumph, I suppose.

I had no noise and no warning. Changer went sloppy and it jumped out of gear - 2nd initially and then after a day or so all except 5th.
If you ride it be careful. I had bits of spring floating around and besides, each time it pops out, especially under load, you risk damage. Not to mention the risk of it doing it at 'inconvenient' times.

owning an 08 model myself I am starting to get worried is there any warning signs?
should I be changing mine out regardless?
is the replacement springs a newer stronger spring?
are the one's that have broken just part of a bad batch?

Sounds like it's time for one of those new fancy Gold Wings Hans,,,.;)

Nah I'll just order one and replace it before it cause any issues. I love My Rocket

Hanso - that's what I did - told my dealer to order 2! (they're only $3 each) that's the trick I think to avoid down time waiting for parts - slowly accumulate extras!
