2013 Rocket 3 Roadster - sold the other bikes
I just completed 350km run on my Roadster. Just before I arrived home I heard a whirring sound when I accelerated (especially in the corners) It sounded like it was coming from the rear.

It was not constant but seemed more at the 100 to 110kph.

The bike has 5,000km on it. I am going to change the oil and probably change the rear gear oil.

Is this something I should be concerned about and what else should I check?

Thanks for your feedback.

Possibly your rear tyre making some noise. If it is the original tyre on it then it should be getting close to worn out by now. ;) ;)

Never thought of tire pressure. Before I left today i checked it. There was 45 lbs in the rear and 36 lbs up front.

I am hoping to get the summer out of the tire. Doesn't look too bad now but I will have to ease up on redlining in the first 2 gears.

Thanks for the feedback.

I bought my R3 on eat-me-bay. Flew from Michigan to Texas to ride it home. Back tire was about half gone (Metzler) it would make a whirring sound in corners. Thought something was wrong with the bike. Now when I hear that sound I know it's about new tire time.

I believe you are right regarding the tire. The summer is almost done and I will have approx 9,000km on it. New one in the spring.
