Getting out backwards would be just as bad I'd imagine, Laraza. On the upside, that should be a cinch to do out in black and white tiles......I can't imagine there would be any tile cracking through floor movement with those very impressive footings :D :D .........

You know it mate! :D considering putting a door at the other end so I don't have to come out backwards;) reckon if I did that the whole thing would just fold in on itself! Bit concerned that doing it out in black and white will make it look smaller than it really is ;);)

I had about the same setup when I had my first Harley FLHS. My ramp was wood painted with sand in the paint. Good man for keeping the bike out of the weather. I'm not sure what's worse, the sun or the rain.

I finally got them all washed this weekend. We got 7 inches of snow on the coast Saturday and I was up Sunday morning washing all the bikes after I fixed the frozen garden hose. I should have taken a picture of that dumb idea.

I found a picture from Sunday morning. We usually don't get snow here on the coast but it's been a crazy winter so far. I froze my a*s off washing bikes that day..

Hahahahahaha, that's what ya get for not letting me bring mine down to stay a few days. We did get in about 200 miles on Sunday. I did 100 solo then rode two up for another 100.

I must say i really like your work. I must remember this when It comes time to work on my garage (when I buy a house). Its also a possible Idea for my dad since he likes to save money, but still wants the awesome look of tile. Is it possible to seal the grout so that any oil that makes its way out of the cars/motorcycles/busses he has wont stain it?

later,
Steve

yes, grout sealer should make cleanups easy. I've had no problems so far. The load of the wifes car has had no effect on the tile.

Tile question

Love your tiled garage floor. I would like to do the same thing and looked into the Griots Garage porcelain tiles but they are quite expensive. Would you mind sharing what you used and where they might be purchased? I am pretty handy but have never installed tile. Did you have previous experience or just jumped in and gave it a go? Also what was used to bond the tile to the floor, it looks like there is no grout between the tiles? You did a great job and it looks excellent. Thanks in advance for sharing information. Doug

Tile installation is simple if you are handy and can be accomplished easily with the right tools. There are some serious pitfalls if the correct steps are not taken. Epoxy grout is by far the superior stain resistor, a bit more expensive but no sealer needed and worth the nominal cost increase. use a membrane to bridge stress cuts and cracks no matter how small they are because tile will not flex. I am only responding because I have fixed many a DIY job that went south and that can be a difficult situation all the way around.

thinking some more---- Concrete stain is another good inexpensive alternative to epoxy paint or tile. lowes, home depot and other home centers will have this product. OOOOH !!!! and by the way my garage floor is terrible. I am no longer in that industry but I did pay my dues doing floors and furniture for 20 years and as they say a plumber's faucet always leaks.
