I call my dealer to get a solo bucket seat from Triumph, price is 269 + shipping. Atlanta is out of stock so they cancel my order.

Call the NYC store in reccomended by Phil, same deal out of stock, no seats ofr 1 month according to Triumph.

For all the good things about this bike, my ability to buy accessories has been a big let down. When I bought it, I ordered 3k worth of accessories only to cancel 1200 dollars of it because of the same problem.

**** this is frustrating since Harley stocks lots of things, Yamaha and Honda stock lots of accessories.

Accessories availability

I recently purchased a 2006 Rocket Classic, and have also been disappointed at the availability of Triumph accessories. I spoke to several dealers...and no one has much in stock when it comes to parts. I have been told by more than one dealer that Triumph is WAAAY behind on production on most parts....thus leaving those of us wanting to purchase having to wait months for the parts to become available. Thank goodness for Craiglist and Ebay....

I have recently bought a Corbin fairing off Craiglist, searched nationally for engine dresser bars (finally found a set in Alabama), and am now in the market for a short sissybar/luggage rack combo....
 
I had to wait about a month for a pillion backrest for my T-Bird; ordered in May and got it Friday (it came in about a week or so ago, but I was on vacation). This is NOT the norm, however, from my experience. Most things I've ordered have come in within a week. The only thing with Triumph dealers as compared with Harley dealers is the dealers themselves don't stock very much. If you want some bling, you're pretty much going to have to order it. Harley isn't like that. They keep most stuff in stock. In defense of Triumph dealers, however, they have a MUCH smaller customer base so it's understandable that they don't sink a lot of money in expensive accessorie inventory. Harley, OTOH, moves that stuff pretty quick because there's a Harley rider on every street corner. There's no reason Triumph shouldn't have a good supply of parts and accessories in the warehouse, however. Maybe, they're simply selling more than they expected.
 
And to add to what Daryl said, when I used to order the parts weekly at D&D Cycles, when you did the Triumph part of the order you get the screeen that tells you right then the availability of the accessories/parts in question. The dealer should be able to tell you pretty quick whether it is available or not at the time you place the order. If it is not available for your dealer it is probably not available to any dealer until the boat from England comes in and replenishes that warehouse.

The only problem I had when ordering my parts (before going to work at my dealership) was the adjustable highway mounts and pegs as they were new and initial deliveries were running slow.

Hopefully you'll get faster service/delivery times in the future.

I was given the run around by my dealer here in Adelaide about the accessories pack when I got me '09 R3 -- This included crash bars, sissy bar, saddle bags, screen, and tank protector. I was told they were coming from Triumph in a complete package, and would be here in a fortnight. After no word from dealer for 4 weeks I gave them a buzz and found out the crashbars had arrived but were waiting on the rest. Not happy not even a courtesy call.

I suggested to the sales rep why not take the other bits out of store stock and fit to the bike and when the accessory pack turns up place them back into store stock. His response was "we can't do that what if the accessory pack never turns up" He was lucky I was 80 km's away and on the phone as I was ready to throttle the little dip****.

cutting story short, spoke to the dealer principal of store and said good idea why didn't the sales staff run it by him. They made a few people happy that day by ringing and supplying packs for other bikes.

So I've learnt from this don't deal with the sales rep only the principal and don't take what they say as gospel push the point
 
I guess I'm lucky. I ordered all my accessories from MadSS.com before they went out of business. I got all my stuff within 10 days.

Good thing I've got all the goodies I wanted. Doesn't seem to be a lot of alternatives outside the dealers.

I NEVER talk business with anyone but the owner at the local dealer. For one thing, the peons come and go too often for me to keep track of them, or for them to get to know who I am (someone that spends a lot of money in the store). Second, they rarely know what they're talking about. Third, they don't have the authority to make a decision. I NEVER do business with anyone, whether it's bikes, cars, etc... (most major purchases) other than the person with the authority to make decisions. That's REALLY a pet peeve of mine with car dealers. I WILL NOT negotiate with a salesman. They can show me the car, but when it's time to work a deal, I insist on talking directly with the person that has the authority to sign the dotted line, not their go-between monkey/flunky.
 

Thanks for the tip, I talked to Peter today and he let me know that two of these seats came in today, I got my name on one of them. Guess what else, they are a discontinued item so there the other one is the last one.
