Front tyre problem

Fitted new Avon to the front of my rocket3gt after travelling about 2600kms on new tyre noticed a large slice in tyre. Which I have now replaced the tyre taken off is being returned to Avon for possible warranty

Could someone have run a knife down it when you parked it up somewhere?
Looks like that to me. I really can't imagine that a rubber tyre that new could split like that. After all, there is a metal/fibre belt inside the carcass which will be holding it all together.......unless it is cut.

It does look like a knife cut but if you zoom in you can see a crack where it goes into the tread groove

Rubber does split apart easier once it's outer surface sliced with something sharp. Just saying.
