So with the lack of Avon Cobra Chromes, I went with the Excedra Max in the rear on my 2016 Roadster. Have only 200 miles on it so far, so barely broken in, but I have to say I like how it feels at this point. My front is a Cobra Chrome and it has a few more miles left on it but likely I'll need a new front in the middle of this season. Just wondering what everyone is running on the front these days. I read good things about the Dunlop Elite 4.

My favorite was the Dunlop Elite when I had my '11 Roadster.

Now on the 3R I'm running Metzeler Cruisetecs and I really like them a lot. As much as I was a fan of the Exedra Max on the rear for both bikes, I'd consider giving a set (or eventual set) of these a try. I do like the higher profile on the rear and dropped on the front though for improved handling on the Roadster with the Exedra and Elite. All things to consider.....

I'm in exactly the same situation. I just put an ExcedraMax V rated radial on the rear and still have a chrome 140 on the front. Looking seriously at the American Elite 140 for the front. Thoughts from group?

Michelin Road 6
150/70R17
Rear tire run backwards.
PERIOD!
I've just installed this after also changing to the Exedra Max, and can confirm it makes handling "effortless" is probably the best way to describe it (Roadster).
Compared to Metzelers and Cobra Chromes (which I've run in the past) if you're not running the taller Exedra and the shorter Michelin combo you are not getting the best handling - by a considerable margin.

Gratitude for the confirmation!
So glad you are pleased.
Now go hoon your ass off! 😜

Best front tire for the R3R!
Hi Crashpete, Do you prefer the Road 6 over Cobra Chrome? or is it because Cobras' are hard to get hold of? Are you not better to have the same brand & model of tire front & rear? I didn't know Road 6 came in a 240/50. I currently have Chromes on, front is still well good but rear is getting down & also squaring off so will be looking at options soon.
