First Valve Clearence Check Results

Never hurts to have spares. Myself and some riding pals have collected about 30 shims over the years.[I think all the Triumphs use the same shims]. We still seem to have to swap one out from time to time.

My son who is a machinist, thinks the Yamaha shim is made of different and softer material and will fail. Does anybody know if this is true and possible ?

I would have to think that they take the same pounding in a Yamaha without failure. What makes him think they are a softer material? I know I have used Honda shims in Thunderbirds and Sprints with no problems. No noticeable wear when they were swapped out.
