@Super D. I have a quick question about your bike not sure if you mentioned the milesge it not. But I was curious as to whether it has had and timming chain work or valve shimming. Or any other work that would relax the timing chain to perform?
The bottom end was completely rebuilt last year.

Currious as I was wondering if the cam timing is right or off a wee bit alowing more burn going out the echaust ports. Again just thinking out loud and on the differences of other reported heat temperatures.

Comes to a point when you say eff it, it is a 2005 bike not worth more than 4500 and trust me I know I have had one for sale for two years, the exhaust system you will move in a heartbeat and get most of your money back.
But to keep throwing money into a bike so old starts to not make sense.

I can tell your not a Rocket Scientist then - if they are maintained and you own it and want to ride it they'll last, ask @idk who was finally selling his, going fine with 131,000 miles.

The bike has 131,000 miles on it so is not absolutely perfect cosmetically. However, it is still a VERY good looking bike, and runs brilliantly.

Admittedly would be hard to sell with those miles but not an issue if you want to keep it

In America Rockets are so cheap you cannot give them away, as for people getting attached to bikes(unless it's a Vincent black shadow) makes no sense to me, on everything you have a break even point then you start wondering into the just being crazy zone, not saying that D has gone that far yet

Good luck buying a motorcycle to break even. If you put a tank of gas in after you buy it you've lost money. Make the bike the way you want it. What are you going to do with a bike without an engine? Throw it on the junk pile, how much money did you get for that? At least if you fix it you spent the money you would of lost but you have a bike to ride. If you want re-sale, buy a Harley and never ride it.

About every five years we buy a brand new bike and spend a small fortune fixing it up. After five years the bike is either worn out from mileage or i am bored with it. Trade in time and off on a new bike. Never once looked at buying a bike as a investment. Have a Harley that no one wants (90,000 miles) Still looks good and runs good. After it #raps out will just throw a motor in it and a paint job and keep it going. Rocket X by the time it is paid for will have over 100,000 (five year loan) so it will not be worth much. Nature of the beast. Investment? Re-sale? #ell I buy them to ride and enjoy. No sense buying a bike just to have it set in the garage and look pretty.:p:p:p:p:p:p:p

Just curious but if the bike was tuned by a professional would they have not caught the cam timing was off?

My bike is brand new. No issues. Custom tune for my current setup. 87 octane tune.

Matter of fact i brought the bike back after my first tune to see if tuner could help resolve the heat issue through tuning.

I'll tell you what my tuner told me. This system absolutely needs a heat shield. There's no way around it even with ceramic coating. He tunes twin turbo busas and all sorts of other exotic setups. He knows how to tune an NA engine so his tuning ability can't be called into question.

He even tuned my bike slightly rich to help but it didn't do much.

I will say this, the bike is making incredible power and is very smooth. I'm happy with the performance and looks of the header.

I'm not happy with the customer service or heat. I'm not crying over spilled milk. I'm giving my experience. Most of us found Viking on this forum so to have a constructive discussion on here only makes sense. It cost me money to make things right. That's the bottom line.

My dyno sheet is below.
