I ran across this a while ago and since I didn't see anything specific and concise about bike cleaning, I thought it might be worthy. Possibly Stickyable.

Yeah, I know. It's from the V-Twin crowd, but they do get 'em shiny when they want to. I also warn that any references to cleaning chrome with steel wool (no matter what grade) or scotch brite be ignored. Use brass or bronze wool instead. It will take off the rust and grunge but is too soft to scratch the chrome. Also works for stainless. It does not work for alloys.

Very informative post, GR. Thanks!

I'm partial to Honda's Spray Cleaner & Captain Richard's Best as overall waterless cleaner/polishes, Major Shine and Colonel Brassy for metal shining and polishing, Starbrite Marine Wax w/ teflon for wheels, Liquid Glass Precleaner and Polish/Sealer for a bulletproof, showroom finish, Novus 1,2&3 for windshields and screens and good ole' Pig Snot if I feel compelled to apply a good coat of wax.
