Erratic Speedo

I'd be surprised if you nicked it with the jack...certainly looks like some sort of impact rather than repeated flexing problem to me

i think u r looking at the crankshaft sensor
the vss is on the left hand side just above the kick stand.

Yes that looks right. I wonder if this wire completely broke off if that would stop the engine? Thus leaving me stranded.....

yes u would be walking.
i would change it out when i got the time. the wind will blow the wires around and eventually break the wire. if there is a way to put some plastic ties on it to make it stable till u find time to change it out.
just a thought on the speedos maybe the speedo is warm and when the cold rain hits it cools down the air on the inside and then the vacuum pulls the water into the speedo. just a thought. i used to rinse mine with a hose till some of u had problems. now i think i will cover them with plastic bag. might not hurt to cover them when riding in the rain.

Cheers, I will remove and repair and reinforce with sikaflex for now...
I have a MRA Screen on the R3 and the gauges didnt seem to get wet..

that should work.
i think if u lift the bike to get the tire of the ground a couple inches (6 inches for car tire) then u could use tunecu to check vss while watching the speedo to see what it does that way u might be able to tell which was giving u trouble.

Just checked price of Crank Position Sensor $266.15 AUD and 4 weeks as non in the country:eek::eek::eek::eek::banghead:
