engine guard/crash bar QUESTION

to anyone who has the engine guard/crash bar, oem or otherwise.
how do they bolt on as each side seems to have different possible bolt on points...anything have to come off to bolt them on?

I met someone with engine bars, he didn't think they were up for the job and they do appear to be quite fragile on inspection :?

Get the Rivco bars. It's a half hour job to install. If you bend them. it won't mater. The rest of the bike is destroyed.

but, how do they bolt on? It appears that each side has different possible bolt on location and none seem all that secure.

The top bolts on to the front engine mount bolt. The bottom bolts to the front of the engine. There is a crossover just above the radiator.

They really are sturdy.

does the right side mount the same? is the bar one piece? the right side appears to be different than the left as far as mount points. any pics would be appreciated.

The updated factory engine guards work well.

They are pretty **** sturdy.

I must admit I haven't seen them, but then I tend to compare such things to the quality of my last bike GL1800, you would have to go some to even scratch those bars :? .....bloody dull bike though , apart from the CD interchanger

Hondax, funny coincidence, I just installed mine yesterday.

I wouldn't jack it without securing bike first.The way I did it

was I had my brother sit on the bike while I worked, but if I

didn't have him I probably would have used tie straps to secure

bike on each side.You don't have to jack it up too much, but it

is enough to fall off the kickstand.Goodluck be carefull, it's not too

tough, but an extra hand will make it much easier.
