So...Ive put about 500 miles on my new Roadster (1 mile odom. when purchased) and Ive had this crop up twice.

The rpms will drop to about 600 when I'm rolling and engage the clutch to downshift. The 98% of time recover to normal, but I have had it deadstick on me twice.

Normal idle seems to be fine but has hunted a little for 5 seconds or so at a stop sign..Its always recovered on its own while stopped..Only choked out on me the 2 times in motion.

Im running it up to my dealer on Thursday for my 600 mile oil change and he said it should be an easy fix.

Ive been trying to educate myself via ya'lls (Memphis talk) awesome posts but I just thought I make a quick post to see if anyone had any thoughts on what to ask the mechanic.

Thank you in advance,

PS. I'm straight stock at the moment

Have'em force adapt (reflash) the factory tune to the ECU. Takes about two minutes.

BTW, welcome to the site from NJ.

Your very welcome.

It could be a few other things, like a stepper motor/TPS adjustment, but the reflash is quick and easy and just might do the trick.;)

Mine did/does that too. I had to learn not to play with the throttle, when down shifting. If I blip mine once, or twice it will stumble, and recover. Quit a couple of times. Now when I down shift, I just raise the engine rpm a small amount, and hold it there as I ease the clutch out. All that blipping the throttle between gears seems to load up the engine. Dealer said they had done something to it before I picked it up, as it had a "slight idle problem". This is my first injected motorcycle, so I expect it to be different than my 06 Hardly, or my 04 Kaw ZRX1200r. And I LOVE MY ROCKET!:D

Mine did this too early on. But with only 500 miles - it's still tight. Dont PANIC TOO MUCH.

Get them to do a TPS RESET and reload the map. But if the dealer is worth their salt - then they'll do this ANYWAY at the first service - (1000miles?)

I found the bike most likely to hiccup if the ambient temperature rises or falls dramatically since the previous outing. My gut feel tells me it's to do with the load table and narrow band O2 sensor, as it happened to me only in gear and clutch pulled in - Once in neutral the problem went away.

Later on, when I first fitted the Power Commander mine occasionally tried to die as well during the first couple of 100kms prior to the first trim commit. No problems at all now - the PCV has it all in check. I near always blip - force of habit.

just bought a new 2012 r3r, and the same thing has happened to me a couple times... i pull in the clutch and chop the throttle before downshifting and the motor bobs down too far... bike was all warmed up both times...

the bike definitely 'hunts' for equilibrium when you chop the throttle...

aye...i posted this somewhere a second ago..so sorry for the redundancy but I just dropped my wheels off at the dealer and they told that a new flash was just posted by Triumph as of today..or yesterday. He thinks its to address this issue.

/shrug..

We shall see
