I think I said "the engine resets" and by that I mean the ECU seems to reset, because it waits a few seconds and then prepares the throttle bodies for the engine to try to start again. The preparation I'm talking about here is the whirring and clicking that it does when you turn on the killswitch normally. The start button doesn't do anything (no click) until after the whirring and clicking has stopped and the bike is ready to start. Thanks for your help, I'll try testing voltage at the starter while trying to start if the issue occurs again.
