I did Sturgis a,couple years ago. It was...an experience. Definitely want to go back. Can not do yhe camping thing anymore. I have heard that if you do not get a room very early, it is difficult to find one. Especially at a reasonable cost.

Mostly very true and they DO $$$ GOUGE!
Last year after No Panty Wednesday we found rooms in Spearfish at reasonable rates.
Also you might try Hulett, WY (Devils Tower) for a room - 45 min ride away.

Yep. Up on the hill, north side?
There is a nice little 12 room place at the other end of town (only like 6 blocks) where we stayed.
