I've searched here, over at rat.net and googled the snot out of it, but can't find anything.

Has anyone used straight harley slip ons in place of the d&d / tors options?

There are no baffles in the ones I've seen, though I bet some have them. Brackets would have to be moved, but that's fairly easy. Other then that it's just a few clamps.

I only ask because my last bike, a 2000 Yamaha Royal star venture, had a set of road king fish tail pipes. They were already on when I bought it. With the V4 engine, it had a nice sound to it. Sound would be different on the inline 3 of course.

Measure length and pipe diameter, move brackets. Pretty simple, unless I'm missing something.

And they are certainly cheap and easy to find.

Please chime in and let me know if my head is firmly buried someplace.

Edit: now that I'm home and see the bike in front of me, a few more difficulties arise with the shrouds. But maybe still doable. I haven't yet had the exhaust apart yet, but regardless if someone chimes in or not, I might have to explore this option.

Anything is doable if you have the time, skill and inclination. Nothing magical about the slip-ons I would wager beyond mounts. :) Go for it, and then post pictures.

Comatose on my 09T I have had several slip-on one set from an H-D and the a set of smooth 3" curved ones from Rivco but they also make some for H-D with the top mounts like our Touring exhaust. The only catch is the rt pipe(from the front) has the chrome pipe welded on and a bracket for the outer exhaust cover. I had muffler shop build cross pipe and then made bracket for exhaust cover. For the smooth ones I had to find a clamp and make a bracket but the H-D pipes just bolted up in under the bags.

Unfortunately where I live there isn't really any good exhaust shops, at least ones that will do anything for bikes.

I looked into it and ended up buying a Zodiac crossover pipe from eBay. They don't ship to the states, but I have some friends living there that are PCSing back in a few weeks.

In the meantime I'm keeping an eye out for some used D&Ds or something similar. If nothing pops up in a month or so, I'll either order new D&Ds or ride up to Albuquerque and try to get some exhaust made / harley pipes modded over a weekend.

What sort of bike do you have? It is helpful to have it under your avatar. D&Ds for the older model Rockets are 2 pipes on one side so no cross-over is needed. Different story completely looking at pipes for a Roadster or Touring. You make it hard to offer any advice.

Be patient. A set of D and D's will probably pop up soon. I bought a set that were practically new from a member here just a few months ago for $350. I pulled the baffles out last week and like them even more now. Probably too loud for some but I think they sound great. There's a video here somewhere of mine with the baffles still in. Sounds good either way.
