Dropped new '25 R3 R Storm - So Happy!

If you hit a pothole and the engine stalled I would have a talk with your Triumph dealer. It's not suppose to stall anytime or anywhere. Mine stalled on and off intermittently the first year I had it but of course duplicating it for the dealer on a 2 mile circle at 30 mph didn't happen. It hasn't done it since year one but if you stalled in a turn you should let them know and possibly fix your bike. Cheers,
Thanks for reply. Stall was due to hitting pot hole driving my wrist up and closing throttle slightly. Should have opened it more and used clutch to feather on. My bad.

An unfortunate event. Could potentially happen to any of us. These bikes are heavy and can easily catch you out.

stay in 1st and 2nd for longer at lower speeds, don't short-shift at lower speeds. they should not stall even with fully closed throttle - lots of torque at idle. best wishes

Indeed! Motorcycling is so rewarding because it is challenging and often doesn't leave a lot of room for error. It holds one to account pretty quickly and sometimes harshly.

That story sounds like a nightmare at the beginning. You're one lucky fella the damage was so light........it's a heavy beast so it doesn't drop lightly.

I agree with MightyMouse about getting the dealer to check the engine/mapping/fueling. It shouldn't be stalling like that......Unless you really did have the throttle feathered right back and the incline at that point was too steep (like front wheel in a dip for example).

Before you do that, buy a lottery ticket.....you're luck might be in for the whole week.... ;)
Well said! And haha!

Just saw this. I have a new 2025 and was thinking of getting an engine guard (if I can find one that fits it). So I'm wondering if the guard is even needed. I dropped my previous bike (Ducati Xdiavel) and it was the same deal, only damage was at the end of the handlebars. Nothing else touched the ground.

Congrats on new Rocket! Although I got lucky, it appears that some have experienced large dollar repair bills when dropping their R3s. Others have commented that crash bars can result in more expensive repairs, causing frame or engine casing damage. That is the first time I've ever dropped a bike with 45 years of riding at somewhere over 200,000 km. I've elected not to go the crash bar route.

Harry, that is one fine looking Rocket. Glad you posted a pic of it. I do appreciate the fact that you shared your experience with us. I know many of us have had a similar experience that we probably wouldn't want to share... especially if it was our fault. Maybe someone could start a post titled... "Have You Ever Dropped Your Ride?" I bet it would be busy. Glad you and the bike weren't too badly hurt/damaged.
