Drilled bars for internal wiring

question is, whenever I've thought of drilling bars for internal wiring I've always had people say i shouldn't as it will weaken the strength of the bars. personal i always thought if you hit them that hard the last thing you'd be worried about is the bars bending. also when i look at others that have done it i see the hole is between our 2 clamping spots so for it to be an issue you'll need to put that much pressure you'd need to bend the risers first.

now that I've stated my thoughts can you confirm if it is ok. am i missing something?
those with an opinion or some knowledge please post.

Ponters, If you are really concerned you could drill the holes that suit your needs, drill them oversize and have a tube welded into the oversize hole at the right angle.
Its a bit more messing around - re-chroming etc but certainly strong.
