.....Well....The swap-out has been done this morning.
Took just under an hour and they also gave the bike a general health check as part of the complimentary TFT replacement.
I have to say that it was a very good dealer experience. Top marks for TriumphWorld, Chesterfield, UK. Credit where it's due, they deserve a positive mention.
Chatting with the guy who sorted out the warranty work via the factory warranty department, he told me that the TFT units fitted to the earlier Rockets (2019/2020 models in particular) had a fully sealed unit and these are apparently the units that were prone to getting cracked screens due to internal heat build up.
He said that Triumph made changes to the housing construction which is supposed to stop the units from 'popping' (i.e. cracking) in the heat, and that these revised TFT housings have been installed on newer year models. He didn't say which year the revised housings came out and I didn't think at the time to ask for more accurate information on the subject.
He said that the older housings do not have replaceable front display covers, as the unit is a fully bonded shell, so this means that it's not possible to just get a replacement glass/bezel.
I assume therefore, that the revised units do allow for the possibility of replacing the glass/bezel.
