Is it a peice of garbage for everyone? I've bought several plugs, and none of then work well. Barely touching the dang thing shuts it off, so does every little bump.
Is it better to just run a line from the battery? I am getting more and more frustrated every time I have to fiddle with it.

I use the bike's mid din socket for battery tender without issue . I use the dash leads for gps and driving lights. Assuming you're referring to the dash socket I see no reason notto swap to a regular cigar lighter plug. They just plug into spade wiring.

I had fairly good luck with adapters to USB working, until they didn't. I also didn't like the way they looked bulging from the dash. Here's what I decided to do, which Triumph should have done in the first place....

I've been using a big fat USB converter on the Din outlet (never figured out what plugs in *directly* to a Din outlet, btw 🤷🏼‍♂️) and finally decided to go with a more common sense solution. This involves drilling out the aluminum housing so that it will take the larger standard size 12V USB...

Mine works great. No need to touch it except for when I wash the bike. Other than that, no issues. I have a GoPro and QuadLock Qi Charger plugged into mine. Never an issue.

never had issues in any riding mode. Ordered from Germany 1+ years ago.

The long ones? Yes, constant issues with them losing connection. But these small ones? Work perfectly:

That said, bending the copper tabs outward helps keep the longer ones seated firmly, for a while at least.

Yeah, nothing wrong with adapters and they are not that expensive to replace when needed. But at some point I just decided a direct connection would be easier and much more "aesthetically pleasing." I know, few here like to go much further than stock beyond oil and, very rarely, tires with the 2.5s. I started with a 2.3 Classic, then Roadster, and it spoiled me- it's just a whole different ownership mindset. Drill baby, drill....
