Detent spring

What are all those black rectangles on the rings? Mine doesn't have that it's all smooth
Are you talking about the pads on the fibers. they are black from heat. Probably someone thrashing them or using improper oil. I must admit they are not mine. just pictures someone I was helping sent me for evaluation. Here is a shot of the OEM new on the right compared to the MTC fibers which I use and much prefer on the left.

My 07 has the OEM ones something else I would have changed while I was in her if I was not 1000 miles from home. Thank god I had a trailer to pull her apart and fix her.

I think Mr RooK was being a little cheeky ... he's worn his smooth from too many burnouts....

So .... What did you find in there Rook ?
Was it the return spring or the detent giving you problems ?

MIne is slightly different...
OK I guess my Black engine 2006 is just like the silver model?
Funny thing though. When I took this apart, I haven't seen a wavy washer anywhere and it doesn't reference one in the shop manual. That said I do have a replacement one so I'm not sure if I should use it. I have regular washer, needle bearing.

Ok so other than the Clutch shaft, everything else look fine in there. All the springs are there and seem strong. Starting to wonder if the problem is in the tranny

1- I'll change all the springs as I have them
2- Probably order a clutch shaft, it seem to show some wear (see pics) and new lifter shaft.
3- Take a look at the oil pump chain. Is it supposed to be that slack? Doesn't seem to have an adjustment. I'm puzzled by this.

I can see a little wear on the lifter shaft not bad for its age. Shows you keep the clutch adjusted well. Oil pump chain is usually loose and there is no adjustment. Id say it will be fine as I never heard of one breaking or kicking off. I'll look closer when I get back to the house and on the computer. I'm with @Boog as he just finished his 200 mile swim.
