Desert Water Temps

it might be better to have one of those digital temp oil sticks. just a thought.
it does look nice. but do they have them in the states?

I have seen them on HD - but not for the R3 - The reason I was going for Water Temp is that if the fan should fail then I can catch it before it becomes an issue. Same for the general engine temp. Out here we change oil very regularly as sitting in traffic at 110F (air temp) tends to beat up even the best synthetic.

I'd be more concerned about keeping my oil from breaking down. I spent a good 3 weeks riding threw the Desert and BadLands with my air cooled v-twin in August. I noticed the oil was like water you could here it ticking after 6 hours of hard riding in 100*+ weather..
Yup - I have been out here for 18 yrs now and riding most of it. Oil sure takes a beating, whic\h is why I tend to change it very often!
