YOU can and will run any tire you want and no one is trying to stop you WE are just giving you the facts and you and others can do whatever you like with your bike

Trouble is, IMFAST, despite what you say above, you're not actually giving the "facts", just personal opinions.

If you can show me a couple of pieces of evidence (not just anecdotes) that a car tire (not a rider) has "endangered" others, or has come off the rim etc, etc, then I will certainly do some investigation to see if I should reassess my opinion of car tires.

I have a mate in Seattle whose sole job is as an accident investigator all over the US. He has not seen any motorcycle accidents attributable to car tires. Of course, he does not see "every" accident, so it's quite possible that some have occurred, but he believes he would have been made aware of them. Now that's a "fact".

Without any real evidence to the contrary, all the claims of the danger of car tires are a bit hollow and simply don't stack up. As for tire engineers saying you shouldn't do it, don't forget we were told by IT engineers that planes would most likely fall out of the sky if they were flying at one minute past midnight on 31st December 1999. Real experience showed otherwise.

Hey Pete,

I was one of them, and the sad thing is we pretty much believed it could happen. Gotta say though, I made a lot of money for a year or so there....

WELL we know that if you run a CT on a ROCKET and run along with a VMAX thru the twisties that you can run of the tread and on to the sidewall of the tire as this happened with PHILS BIKE and thats dangerous enough DONT know about the airplane story ?? but i think the tire engineers are the EXPERTS when it comes to tires I really dont think its very safe running on the sidewall of a CAR TIRE on a MC but if you think so no one can stop you

hahahahaha. you sure he wasn't lying on his side going round in circles Phil ?

I'll have to get on to the UK site and see if I can find him. Not that I doubt you for one minute....it's just that I would have thought you'd lose all traction well before reaching the lettering. Thanks.....you learn something new every day :D

Here ya' go, Pete:

The picture is 7 posts down... makes you wonder, doesn't it?

Thanks for that solid fact supporting how dangerous car tires are IMFAST:confused:. I assume the "fact" in this case is that Phil fell off when he rode on the sidewall, thus proving beyond doubt that car tires are unsafe ? He DID fall off didn't he

If he didn't fall off why does this have any more relevance than someone on a bike tire cornering past their ability, losing traction and sliding into the opposing lane. Amazing as it sounds, this has indeed been reported on one or two occasions :D

I am still waiting for a single "fact" to support your claim that car tires are unsafe, so I can look to reevaluate my own perception.

Hahahahahaha. So was I, Harry, so was I:D

Still reckon it was the "beanies" fault for penny pinching and forcing IT to reduce labour costs by taking shortcuts with the full date format
