Darkside Debunked by YouTube Motorcycle Messiah

I added this one wrt "Spontaneous Uninstallation":

11. He completely ignores the fact that CT's are steel belted. If you select the proper tire, not only will it not pop off the rim, you almost can't get them off. It's easier to cut them off with an electrical cut-off tool.

If sized properly it is almost physically impossible for a non-defective DOT certified tire to mysteriously jump off an outer lip but I do not have a fuzzy-math formula or theoretical diagram showing no amount of stress, strain or sheering from riding will cause it to fly off - even if it were flat.

I'm not advocating one way or the other. Do it or don't do it. Just base it on actual facts.

I will nake another statement about the forces hilding a tire on the rim. When it comes to the dark side fit. I can see where running the narrower profile (as some do) helps the side face area of the bead sit more upright so the side pressure force can affect itbetter. I'm not sure about inside diameter differences so I will not speculate on that.

I don't miss that, especially having a Chihuahua, I had to shovel just to let her out, 6" of snow is over her head.

Its a personal risk thing. Personally I want to lean the girl over so will use tyres that are made to lean, if I was drag racing I'd have a spare wheel with a car tyre. Insurance is always in the back of my mind. BUT, A lot of us make mods that are way beyond original spec, so I doubt tyres would be the only card in the assessors hand :)

I have investigated hundreds of motorcycle accidents, serious and fatal injury.
Not one involved a motorcycle with a car tire.
I believe car tire riders are after longevity and cost savings and not usually prone to hooning. If you understand the limitations and it works for you, no problema.
I can also guarantee that if you are in a high dollar accident, regard less of fault, your insurance company will likely try to mitigate their damage expisure by showing you partially at fault if you're using non original equipment affecting safety.
YOUR better off spending a few more $ and avoid the problems associated with using CAR TIRES on a motorcycle

Not that anyone wants it, but my feelings are thus: as long as your personal experiments don’t put others at risk, go for it! Many have put car tires on, fat tire kits (front and back), changed the vehicle geometry etc.

I’m Australia, fitting tyres that do not meet the specifications by the manufacturer can lead to insurance companies not paying out in an accident.

Yep. You're right. They CAN lead to that.

But can you tell us of even one incident in Oz where that HAS happened???

Be interested to hear............
