Darkside/Crowned roads

Oh.. I thought you were just getting old and it took you this long to notice...

I often wondered how the dark side tires wore over time.. Items such as continuous riding on crowned roads.. or, more left hand turns than right, or stuff like that would seem to make the tire wear more on one side than the other? Of course, motorcycle tires wear the same way, but I don't think it's as noticable because the contact patch is much smaller.

I've got about 4000 miles on it and I noticed it from the begining. I don't have very many two up miles on it though. I had gotten some what used to the leaning, my wife brought it to my attention.

She'll get used to it as well. My wife says that she feels more confident with the darkside tire as well. Plus, neither one of us are on the small side so the extra load carrying capacity of the CT is another plus.

I am getting old...that's why I love this site, there are plenty of older farts on this site than me. Makes me feel young again.

but like I said, I haven't tried it two up yet. I just don't want the wife to have to ride through Texas, New Mexico, Colorado and Utah at a 45 degree angle

What do you mean two up? Why isn't your wife riding that totally cool ride of hers?

She likes being a passenger, kicking back, taking pictures...and she also realizes, that if she get tired of driving half way into the trip, it's tuff sh#t.

Sounds like somewhere down the road I might be able to buy that spider for a really good price. Especially with low mileage on it.

I had Goodyears on my 2 Suzukis. I loved them and will probably go back to one when my Metz wears thin. It was rock solid on wet roads, even with 2" wide grooves ground for re-surfacing. The front tire was sliding all over the place, but the Goodyear tracked as true as could be. It was fun watching those Harley guys ahead of me. Those little 150/180 tires were really tough for them to handle. The wife liked the ride better too!

Uneven surfaces at low speed will demonstrate the larger tire patch, so heed the valleys or crowns depending on where you feel more comfortable. I was reminded while slow passing to turn right on red on uneven surface and almost came in contact with the cage I was passing to turn. I set mine at 35 cold.

I found this " road rut" problem greatly improved when I went up a few pounds in tire pressure.
