D&D slips on exhaust

Howdy all.

Had my Rocket for 2 years and want to change the exhaust. I'm thinking of D&D slip on pipes. There's not much on here about them, most people seem to fit the jardines.

How much louder are the D&Ds compared to the stock exhaust?
Are they easy to fit?
Or would would it be a better idea to spend the extra $$$ and put on Jardines with a set of baffles?

Any and all advice is appreciated.

Friend of mine has D&D's Tuneboy & a dynoed tune. Puts out 136 at the wheel, & sound pretty good. ( not as good as Maddogs tho:lol: ) They are pretty noticable ( sonically) without being cop-pullingly loud. Jars are louder, can be tuned up to low 150's HP ( balanced headers) but cost more & did I mention how loud they are?
Summary : D&D's are a good cheap way of getting there.Minus points: More expensive pipes do sound even better & tune up better. Material quality of D&D's .they're ok but you get what you pay for.
Serious alternatives? Jars ( mentioned) Sam's Predators ( one of the best products, but act FAST if you want, look for grp buy going on at the min & you MIGHT get in) Sam's new product " Thugs" shorty twin pipes ..again some threads there.

Yeah I decided to go with the D&d s this spring.
Ran a D&D pipe on my Victory and It was just fine.
I figure with this pipe you get rid of the Cat box and better sound than stock. Plus a few more horses.
Price is in my ball park too!

I have to say they are loud, very loud. During our great Lake Tahoe salvo I followed one of our members who had D&Ds and finally had to pull around him. I believe my Jards to be a bit too loud but must say they are more subdued than that D&Ds.

Strange, my mates arn't all that loud, quieter & nicer toned than Madaz pipes ( Triumph approved aftermarket..note: these arn;t TORs)One thing tho, the sound mellowed & sounded much nicer after his dyno tune. That might be the reason?

Thanks everyone for the advice. I've taken the plunge and bought the D&D pipes from an online store in the US. All up with shipping, they cost me $US 590. I hope they get here before Santa does. I take on board what blastedbones said and I think I'll get them dyno tuned after I fit them. I've changed my insurance company too...they (insuremyride) said anything that made the bike unroadworthy in NSW and they wouldn't cover me. QBE price matched insuremyride and they said they would cover modifications unless the modification was a contributing factor in the accident. that's reasonable enough. Have a great day people. interesting to know how they perform. On the insurance front , my insurance company insures my rocket for about $50 a year .....and they don't care what mods I do. Bear in mind though that fully comprehensive cover here in Czech runs to about $3000 dollars so I take the risk with third party.

They finally arrived in the post from the USA. The finish was excellent and the bits and pieces were there, EXCEPT for the gaskets. It's odd that they don't throw those in the box. After all, how much extra would they cost?. Anyway, I spent two hours fitting them and lost a bit of bark off a few knuckles. By golly some of the nuts were tough to get off and hard to get to. At start up, they do rummble - a lot . I suppose its more of a deep bass sound. At idle, they're not too bad - still loud but not uncomfortably so. Taking off is when they get really LOUD. My first thought was that I'd made a mistake buying them but I'll give them a week or two and see how I 'adjust' to them.

Tomorrow I'm taking it to Procycles at St Peters for a tune and see what it does to the sound. If I decide to go back to the quiet life and refit the standard pipes, I'll stick the D&D's on Ebay. Watch this space.
