That letter writer should have been sitting on my air cooled Intruder when I was stopped in traffic....it would creep along just enough to make shutting down impractical....the engine got to a strange rhythm after awhile and was quite hot...and then I took off down the shoulder, otherwise totally illegal in Virginia, just to get some air flowing across the engine. By and by I got to the wreck site, and cop saw me coming down the shoulder....I just maneuvered in and hollered "hot engine" and he waved me on!

I don't give a rats ass how hot a Harley gets since I don't own one but I do know that a RT3 gets too hot on the right side when in traffic here in Vegas any time its 100 degrees or more. My pipes are wrapped behind the heat shields and that helps some. No problem with heat if the bike is moving along but sitting in traffic its hot. I love the guys comment about choosing a bike with a monster engine, what do you expect. I agree with him, its gonna put out more heat than most, just the way it is. My v8 bikes put out less heat than the Rocket in traffic but they have larger radiators. The V8 Chopper is usually 170 degrees and the Boss Hoss runs 180 degrees.

The Rockets dont run hot they run at the thermostat setting Ive never had any of the rockets overheat even the modded 265 HP bikes they are a not as hot as the HARLEYS

Heat was never a problem for me UNTIL I added a header, better air and had it dyno-tuned adding way more horsies. :p
Tis really only problematic at a stop or slow speed on hot days.
The performance is WELL WORTH the heat!

Maybe since day 1 I've already used Hanso tune or simply because I'm used to the tropical climate, the heat I thought was still bearable. That being said, I'm still considering to have the exhaust painted with cerakote painting for an even more comfortable ride.

Here in Finland it´s cold in the winter time and a little less cold in the summer time. I don´t mind the heat even at summer time. All I have to do is to think about the next winter and all is well!!

People come up with strange problems, don´t they???
