Um... no . I've never heard the word effort used in that way, and even a Google search hasn't helped me understand what an effort witness is.

After reading the full Cycle World article, and the additional data regarding 6 of the 17 runs, I detetmined it was incorrect of me to consider acceleration in this instance. My previous calcs all involved the use of acceleration. Since we know acceleration is variable throughout the entire 1320 feet, averageing it introduces a large amount of error.

Eliminating acceleration produces what I believe to be a much better answer regarding the difference in distance at the finish of the quarter between the first run of 126.02 mph in 10.701 seconds and the best run of 126.41 mph in 10.562 seconds.

The first run and the quickest were both at 126 mph plus change (126.02 and 126.41).

126.02 mph is 184.83 fps. The time difference of .139 second would account for a distance of about 25 feet at the finish.

I see that the writer was impressed with 2500cc being displayed on the valve cover. That is a lot in the normal bike world. In the abnormal bike world the V8 Chopper is considered small with only 5734 cc!
