Custom cold air ram intake

Claviger said: "So my setup is Ozclaw + Ramair v2.

While tuning I did a run up to 160mph and sure as ****, as soon as I hit around 140mph she started to lean out. I eventually let off completely when the bike hit 15.5:1 at WOT at high RPM (didn't get to look closely at it because you know.... going fast as ****).

Ozclaw doesn't seal, so technically not a full on "Ram air" system, but I put money on it creating SOME increased pressure. To go two full points leaner in AFR than I do in any other gear tells me speed is a factor, and the only way that can happen is more air being shoved down her gullet than in any other gear...

It actually creates a very serious problem with tuning.. if I fatten the 6000+ RPM are up for 5th gear, it'll be pig rich in 1st through 4th gear. I left it alone cause really, I dont get up that high very often, so I'd prefer to have it at 13.5:1 than be super rich to compensate for whatever is going on at high speed.

Not sure how you'd tackle this effect with a full sealed ram air system using the stock computer, maybe it would be more constant and not so pronounced on a sealed version."

Use a GM positive pressure atmospheric sensor (used with turbo and supercharger systems) in place of the Triumph sensor and put the sensor orifice inside the air box. Any increase in atmospheric pressure due to speed will be sent to the ECU and compensated for. This is limited to the pressure range the ECU can compensate for and the rate at which the sensor is sampled. Therefore, the system will suffer some hysteresis.

At 140mph plus you are definitely getting positive pressure in a forward facing ram tube.

Sorry to hear about your CR head issues. Sounds like you have overcome the problems and have the bike running and ready to tune. Good luck and I hope you find the power you were hoping for.

I stopped trying. He was making the non filtered, and was to be doing a filtered one. Then he stopped answering, and I stopped calling.

HES a friend of mine Ill go and see how hes coming along with the project and give you a heads up .

I am confused I'm thinking more air leans and then requires more fuel?
So why would you lean in anticipation of more air from the Ozclaw?
Based on my several dynos with and without Ozclaw, I don't think the Ozclaw makes any difference either way.
I have pulled with OEM claw, with Ozclaw and with Ozclaw after relocating the puke jug.
Attached is one with the Ozclaw sans OEM puke jug. Mix remains pretty constant.

The OZCLAW is not sealed and probably doesnt deliver any boost or anymore air .

Understood and is what I stated.
My concern was regarding the leaning with more speed issue.

Ask him if he's ever going to do a turbo kit, or should I look elsewhere?

HE has the Turbo Sitting in the shop BUT its not finished still making some changes to make it a sweet street cruiser and monster beat anything beast
