Custom cold air ram intake

Here are the unprinted first pics!
Hey Troy, any progress with the carp intake? If it looks like they won't be made, could you see if the maker of the intakes will sell me an unfinished one and I will see if I can get something done to complete the project. I have a few ideas to easily (I think) adapt the intake to filter the air. If you don't want to get involved, please provide me an e-mail address to the gentleman and I'll contact him. Thanks.
leatal.

So my setup is Ozclaw + Ramair v2.

While tuning I did a run up to 160mph and sure as ****, as soon as I hit around 140mph she started to lean out. I eventually let off completely when the bike hit 15.5:1 at WOT at high RPM (didn't get to look closely at it because you know.... going fast as ****).

Ozclaw doesn't seal, so technically not a full on "Ram air" system, but I put money on it creating SOME increased pressure. To go two full points leaner in AFR than I do in any other gear tells me speed is a factor, and the only way that can happen is more air being shoved down her gullet than in any other gear...

It actually creates a very serious problem with tuning.. if I fatten the 6000+ RPM are up for 5th gear, it'll be pig rich in 1st through 4th gear. I left it alone cause really, I dont get up that high very often, so I'd prefer to have it at 13.5:1 than be super rich to compensate for whatever is going on at high speed.

Not sure how you'd tackle this effect with a full sealed ram air system using the stock computer, maybe it would be more constant and not so pronounced on a sealed version.

PCV fueling for each gear might work out for this istance.

Schhhh Scott - don't tell everybody.

AutoTune and map/gear together is why I fitted the PCV. I've only encountered one "issue". When not sure which gear it's in (it calculates this itself and does not use the "GPS") the PCV will default to 1st gear map - this includes "N".
I was due a PCV trim investigation today - but I have a more pressing Guzzi Ignition Switch failure. One Greybeard ignition conversion coming up - 70amp relay.

I will send him another email. He has not gotten back to me. If nothing else, I will send you his info.

Hi Troy,
Any word from your Carp intake man? I did get up with the folks from Carpenter Racing and they said the intakes were sold through Marcello's Auto Body Shop up the road. The man I talked to was very nice and informative. Apparently the folks up there are into drag racing as he informed me the Carp intake has no filter because they loose horse power. They can provide me one painted to match my bike (pretty much bolt on and go) for $490 including shipping. Unfortunately that is without filter. He did mention about possibly glassing a wire mesh screen inside the intake so we could add a removable foam filter for road riding and remove the foam for drag racing. Could you please provide me your contact as I would prefer an unfinished one to modify for filter and to provide for engine venting, temp and pressure sensing, then have it painted to my color. Thanks, leatal.

Possibly fitting a new fuel filter would stop you high end leanout problem mr Claviger ?

G'day Mr Lush ,I have been wanting to ask a Question for some time,as it would appear popular opinion is that our Rockets are badly hobbled by the OEM induction system, looking at the plumbing under the seat and tank it does take a bit of a journey to the throttle bodies, but as big (in motorcycle) terms the engine is its only 2.3 litres compared to 7 Litre plus petrol engines the sizing is not that small also the air cleaner element is a fair size, is it really as restrictive as most of us think, and would the benefits of the modified filters out weigh the efficient dust and water filtration of a K&N filter in the OEM under seat system for a self confessed Gently Bently style rider who tours on a fair bit of unpaved roads, as my Avatar shows I was always aware of the benefits of efficient induction filters, running twin Donaldson air filters filter stacks on our Trucks ,I know some of the other guys might be interested in your opinion:unsure:

Marcello is the guy. He was to be working on one with a filter, but has not returned my email or call from a while ago. You can call him to get an unfinished one sent to you I'm sure. I guess the mesh is his new version for air filter.
