Crying the MPG blues . . .

I love the pipes! I actually enjoyed the "stock look" and these just have a preferred cut at the ends w/ no cat. With the added tune, it opened her up quite noticeably.

Great. Exhaust folks have told me that there is a fine balance concerning backpressure. Reduce it too much and your torque falls off. I experienced it once on my Roadstar and dumped those pipes as fast as I could, going back,to my 2:1 pipes. I guess the only way to know for sure is to have a way to quantify the results on a dyno. I have had four different sets of pipes on my roadstar over the years and whew . . . that was a lot of work but I found the perfect pipes.

I see your just north of Tampa. I'll be heading to the Miami area in Sep for a 24th month stint. I've never been that far south and am hoping for some good riding.

Give me an idea when you are passing through and may be we can hook up for a ride. If you will be in the Miami area, the road to Key West will be a beautiful ride for you. A1A which runs along the coast will also be a beautiful ride for you. US-41, Tamiami Trail, through the Everglades is nice as well. The smallest post office in the U.S. is located at 38000 Tamiami Trail E, Ochopee, FL 34141. There are places in the Everglades to take airboat rides, and visit Native American tribal areas. Up in my part of the state there are some rolling hills (I know, I know, hard to believe but it is true) and I think some of the best roads in Florida are up here. Have fun exploring the state.

Sounds like you are doing great. Do you plan on doing any mods to it as far as performance goes? I am thinking about that de-restricting tune.
At this point, I am not thinking about any performance mods. I like the way the bike goes right now. My previous bike was a 2009 Kawasaki Nomad. I had it for 143,000 miles and got an average of 35.5 mpg with it. The R3T blows it away as far as power goes, yet gets about the same mpg. For me it is already a winner.

I have made mods to the bike in terms of lighting, horns, headlight/brake light modulators, LED headlight/driving lights, regulator/rectifier, and a power block. My last big mod will be to add a 6 gallon auxiliary fuel tank in order to extend my range. I had this on my Nomad and loved it. It let me fill up once a week, instead of every 3 days and was great for my long distance rides.

Great. I would like to keep in touch with you. I would also like to,learn more about your enhancements. A steibel horn is definitely in my plan and I want those LED lights also. I put a set on my roadstar and the enhancement was dramatic. Did you do only bulbs in the stock housings or total light replacements?

I am going to relocate my floorboards lower and farther forward. I need more room.

I will consistently get 15km per litre riding on the highway at 100 to110pkh, at 120+kph increases the fuel consumption to 12km per litre.

I'm pretty much the same. On a ride to Kaikoura one day, which is around 1 1/2 hrs to 2 hrs nowadays due to roadworks and stop/go lights, i put in a couple of dollars more fuel than my cobber did on his Triumph Storm, I thought, thats about right, bigger motor and stuff, then i realized he put in 91 fuel and i put in 95 and there is a price difference, so we weren't that far apart really.
I'm ok with what my old girl uses cos when it gets down a bit i just stop and put more in!...simple really!

Sounds like a plan... OK, returning this channel to it's original thread... :)

bought my 2008 R3T 2 years ago with 50000 miles. Tr. performance tune and pipes and a stock air box and filter. Now i am at 65000 miles. worst mileage 29 mpg hitting hard in Mts. at 4-8 thousand feet. Best 50 mpg in the desert at 70+ mph with throttle lock on. Usually around mid 30s mpg in town all on reg. grade gas.
LOVE IT Angle is a great gal to do it all on.

You are doing fantastic. I hope to figure out how to match that.
